Our approach is participatory and community-led. We believe lasting change happens when communities identify their own priorities and lead their own development.
To build resilient rural communities where Women, Farmers, Youth, and Children have equitable access to healthcare, educational equity, and sustainable livelihoods, while promoting regenerative agriculture, environmental sustainability, vocational skills, and community-driven development.”
Empowering rural communities, women, youth, children, and farmers, through healthcare, inclusive education, and sustainable livelihoods. Using regenerative agriculture, climate-resilient agriculture techniques, and skill-building, we foster economic resilience and inclusive growth through local participation.
We treat every community member with respect and uphold their right to live with dignity.
Communities lead their own development; we facilitate, not dictate.
We prioritize the most marginalized — women, Dalits, tribals and persons with disabilities.
We are transparent with communities, donors and partners, and we measure our impact.
We build local capacity so that change endures beyond any single project.
Gender equality is woven through every programme we deliver.
RISE is governed by an Executive Committee that provides strategic direction and oversight.
In 1999, a group of socially committed young people came together with a shared concern for the persistent challenges faced by rural communities, including poverty, illiteracy, unemployment, social exclusion, and limited access to basic services. Through a series of discussions and consultations, they recognized the need for a formal, community-based organization that could systematically address these issues and promote sustainable development. To ensure credibility, accountability, legal recognition, and effective mobilization of resources for rural development initiatives, they decided to establish and register the Rural Institute of Social Empowerment (RISE). Accordingly, RISE was registered on 7 May 1999 under the Tamil Nadu Societies Registration Act, 1975, with Registration No. 101/1999.
